"Making beautiful and strong buildings is no longer sufficient. Developers play an active role and must assume their responsability toward the city and its residents. Immobel is a pioneer in matters of sustainable development and urban and social integration."

Real estate development, more than any other professional activity, is written in time. Several years go by betwwen the first sketches of a project, the granting of permits, the completion of a building and its occupancy. New buildings and large-scale renovations both inevitably and lastingly shape the urban fabric. Managing a real estate company means being aware of this fact. Ot requires audacity, the ability to see into the future, and surrounding oneself with the teams (architects, engineers, managers, builders, salespoeple, financial experts, etc...) to ensure that th projects we are responsible for leave their imprint on their era and become landmarks in the urban landscape.

It is this keen look, this sense of responsability that led several visionaries to create the Compagnie Immobilière de Belgique in 1863, the company which, in October 2008, became Immobel (aligning itself with its stock market listing).

These men, guided by humanistic values and an unshakeable faith in the future, made a real contribution to the challenges of urban concentration created by industrialisation.

Some very attractive and well-known buildings, parks, and urban landscaping (such as the creation of public housing, the building of a covered market at Saint-Josse and the Palais du Midi, the rehabilitation of the extensive Notre-Dame des Neiges neighbourhood, the landscaping of the ponds and of square Jardin du Roi, etc...) are still witnesses of the legacy these men left us.

Immobel has experienced many profond changes and mutations over 145 years. In the past years, the Company has refocused its activities on development - the business its understands best - around three primary axes :

  • office,
  • residential,
  • and land development.

Since 2007, the Company has been reorganised and made a fresh start. However, the values of its founders still guide today's teams in their concern for "embellishing and modernising cities," as stated in the Company's act of constitution.
